The Most Memorable Custom Sneakers of 2013 Part 2

Air Jordan V Rocket Science by Revive Customs

How long do you think this custom took? Well apparently it took at least a month or two as Evan of Revive Customs chose to paint one line a day according to his interview with AtlentMag. The end result is definitely an vote for the benefits of taking your time.

The classic Air Jordan V white/fire red base can still be made out but it’s cultural relevance combined with the perfect execution by Revive upon the white upper breaks this shoe from a mere customization to full fledged piece of pop art.

THANK-YOU-PORT

If you’ve made it this far….THANK YOU! Whether you are a customizer on the list, not on the list, just a fan of sneakers, or someone who made it here by happenstance the fact that you spent your time to read my opinion (or just look at photos) is greatly appreciated.

In making this list I wanted to stay away from words and titles such as best or greatest. How art is received or perceived is subjective. There is no way to quantify what piece or creation is #1. Every single persons list would be different based on taste, exposure, connection, and so on.

In building this list I couldn’t help but be influenced by my personal taste, experiences, and preferences. Yet all of those areas have grown and been shaped consuming the art of custom sneakers since 2000. Day in and day out. While it may not have been published on this site, I’ve been exposed to 99.9% of all sneaker customizations published online since I began this site in 2009, and well before.

Going into 2014 I look forward to continuing to share the work of many talented independent artists here on PaintOrThread.com. The goal of my site has always been to showcase what really is the best in custom sneakers. If your work is shown here, consider it the best.

Here’s to making next years list double in size!

Thanks,

Brandon
