Basket Case Dunk Mid

It’s officially official 2009 is the year of “Decon-Recons”. With that said, we got another new, but highly skilled customizers work to showcase. Our buddy Brad created a clean looking pair of Dunk mids with distressed purple leather, brown weaved leather, and black suede Swooshes. Not much else to say other than look out for his next work. He will have a website and MySpace soon but until then contact him with your questions via email:

tM customs: Tie Dye Dunk Low Reconstruction

Shoe companies better look out. 2009 will be the year of the “decon-recon” custom, if we haven’t mentioned that already. There is a good handful or more of people that are giving a few “decon-recon” customizers some much deserved competition. One of those people are theMenace behind tM Customs, and that can easily be seen in his first what he called “simple” reconstruction. Simple?………..Kinda…maybe. Aside from the wild bright colors yes they are simple due to being one fabric. Either way with a few cosmetic structural errors…..not really errors but small mishaps on details that will most likely be erased as tM masters his craft. The potential for great work is on the table for tM in 2009 and beyond. Be sure to visit back here to see his progress.

You gotta start someplace……

2009 is probably gonna be the year of deconstructing and reconstructing in custom shoes. You have some dudes already at the top: Sharp020, 3RCustoms, Hypethetic, an Hush. All who have inspired the rest, one in particular is Twitch Customs. Twitch just posted up his first attempt at a “decon-recon” on the Sole Collector Forums. Hours upon hours using the sewing awl came out with a result that despite its misshaped, upper is actually kinda cool looking. They kinda remind me of the recent Coraline Dunks from Nike to promote the new movie with all the enlarged stitching. Yes the big stitching looks nothing like the released counterparts but it has a home-made and vintage feel to it that is kinda cool. Looks aside this was definitely a learning experience for Twitch who has already worked to put his name on the map with his painted designs. Take this as inspiration to set aside some time and start your own “recon-decon”
