Nike Air Force 1: 808s and Heartbreak
Though the custom sneaker collaboration between customizers had been done before this these stick out as one of the most notable early pairs. The Graduation album by Kanye West and it’s artwork by Takashi Murakami spurred a slew of customs across the web. The 2008 release of 808s and Heartbreak was really no different considering the featured artwork was from the infamous KAWS.
To tackle the 808 and Heartbreak theme Mache teamed up with emmanueLabor known for his work in fabric for this custom AF1 low(some of the last days before Lebrons and Foams and KDs were everything to kids these days). Mache handled the recreation of KAWS’ graphics from the Swoosh back while emmanueLabor took care of the front attaching fabric to represent Ye’s glen gray plaid suit with nods to his heart pin on the tongues.
