This pair is right up there with the previous Lebrons but one thing makes them a bit more significant. Lebron’s attention to Mache apparently spawned the need for Wade to have his own pair of Mache Customs too. The previously white upper of Wade’s signature Li Ning model gots a mutated look as Mache painted the white leather to look as if it was being peeled away for a vibrant technicolor pattern underneath. Mache actually painted two pairs of these Wades, the other being a tribute to his career up to this point from Marquette to Miami.
But this pair made leaps and bounds not just in Mache’s portfolio but of all time remarkable custom sneakers as Wade became the most notable player to wear a hand customized sneaker in a game. Funny fact these weren’t even the first Li Ning hand customized pair worn in a game as Baron Davis dawned his own signature pair for the Knicks in 2012. Yet Wade made these even more special going off for 23 points leading Miami to a 19th straight win vs the Atlanta Hawks in 2013. These sparked the trend in the NBA for players to wear hand customized pairs which we can only hope to explode this season.
