The stigma of customizing a high dollar after market sneaker went out the door sometime last year starting with customized Yeezy IIs and a pair of these same Nike Air Mags. Sneakerheads that will never get these shoes are probably crying “Why ruin a classic wah wah wah!” But a driving factor of customs is that they aren’t meant for everyone, and often times they are designed for one person. But surely this Air Mag by Kickasso Kustoms modeled after the “Elite” concept used on Nike’s premier basketball models would fly off the shelves in 2015 self-lacing or not.
What began as the iconic gray and white motif was practically blacked out on the upper, tongue, ankle liner, strap, midsole, and Air Mag heel counters. But “Elite” doesn’t equal just blacked out there has to be gold so Kickasso started with remaking the speckle splatter in gold upon the midsole and heel counter. Next the previously white Swooshes were changed to gold with a diamond crosshatch pattern. The all black look is cool to see, but we wish the classic Air Mag logo on the heel counters was still prominent a la the original colorway by being painted gold or white.
These are surely a 1 of 1 unless ya know, you have some $6,000 Mags sitting around that you are tired of seeing everyone else with the same color. Be sure to follow Kickasso on Twitter: @KickassoKustoms and Instagram: @KickassoKustomSneakers
