As one of the 5 customizers invited to create a pair of sneakers for Adidas Hoops’ Florist City Collection release, Mike of Red Ribbon Recon brought Damian Lillard’s #4barfriday to life in sneaker form. 4 Bar Friday is an ongoing weekly contest giving anyone in the world an opportunity to show off their freestyle skills in 15 seconds or less via Instagram. The freestyling idea was started by the Portland Trailblazer’s Damian Lillard last year and it’s now turned into a full on Internet force with the best 4 entries each Friday shared on 4BarFriday.com.
The inspired customs from Red Ribbon Recon took the synthetic upper of the Crazy 1 and transformed it to look like it’s covered in yellow legal paper full of Lillard’s #4barfriday freestyles of the last year. The material was actually duck cloth with the lines of the paper machine stitched and the lyrics hand written. A full reconstruction with original linings kept in place while the stripes were saved with a clear plastic overlay so to not hide the lyrics.
