theMenace: Bleach Denim Dunk Lows

Rather new customizer theMenace is getting closer to becoming a “decon-recon” master. His latest pair similar to many denim customs made previously by other artists show improvement from his last tie-dye pair. Clean stitching and edges. We would probably like them more with out the bleach. But good work by theMenace.

Interview with Mizzee Customs Shoe Customizer Ryon

Interview numero dos from PaintorThread with the incredible Miz of Mizzee Customs. Great customizer, great t-shirt painter, great “artist”, period. Have you seen his Earthworm Jim customs? They are likely just as good or better than anything else you have ever done. Mizzee offers some great advice to young customizers, so check it!

1. Please give your name, age, where you are from and or grew up?

Im normally mild mannered Ryon, but when dangers afoot I thrown the cape on and become the eccentric Miz. I’m 25 sometimes depending on how old SHE is and I grew up in Philadelphia, PA; but now I rest in south (new) jersey

2. What, if any, art based education have you had?

None really, Im just happy to be here.

3. When did you start and what got you into customizing?

I first started customizing back in like winter 98-99. I would paint timberland boots since I couldn’t afford to have a real selection. I was always doing sneakers off and on but never really got into it till late 2006. Then I became Lil Wayne…

Revive Customs: SoleFood NYC “Catfish” Dunk

The latest from Revive Customs, in his words:

They are in a series i’m working on to basically send a shoutout to Solefood NYC who has been helping me out greatly over this past year. The shoes are currently available at Solefood NYC on 38 Lispenarde street in between Church St. and Broadway. Every stitch on the shoe is hand painted. The middle panel contains a cat fish panel i created and lastly, the back panel has a tribal pattern with “SOLE” on the left shoe, and “FOOD” on the right shoe.

ST!ZO: Mad L Big Money Nike AF1 Mad L

Out of Chicago, ST!ZO is rapidly building a portfolio of solid customs. Most recently a customer requested a design based off of toy designer Mad L‘s line of graphic work and vinyl toys. The character used specifically was off the “Modern Hero” graphic and the Big Money chain by Mad L. In front of a gold background ST!ZO placed the skeleton figure and Mad L’s tag subtly across the upper. For more info on ST!ZO check his MySpace.

TRAGIKkicks: Summer Of Love

Inspired by one of the greatest music groups ever, The Beatles, and an amazing show in Las Vegas by CIRQUE DU SOLEIL which is inspired by The Beatles, TRAGIKkicks put together a solid custom. If someone can use this many colors and make it attractive then they have a very creative mind in design. Yes, you can say they did not create the patterns or imagery but it is still not an easy task to transport a design from a two dimensional surface to a three dimensional item like a pair of shoes. For more info on TRAGIKkicks check their MySpace.
