Sole Brother: Social Media Giant Digg AF1

Back in November customizer Sole Brother got a great opportunity to make a run of 6 pairs based off the website Digg.com(if you don’t know what that is….wow…check it!) The result was a extremely clean design with glow in the dark capabilities. More from Sole Brother:

When Matt Van Horn of Digg (the world’s largest social news website) came to me looking for unique custom shoes, needless to say I was thrilled! I’ve been a long time Digg user, and I definitely couldn’t pass up a chance to create some exclusive custom kicks for them. The custom Air Force Ones feature a spiffy Digg color scheme, and a cool glow-in-the-dark “Digg” pattern.  I produced 5 pairs of Limited Edition sneakers for the Digg staff and 1 pair for myself. The founder of Digg, Kevin Rose, and CEO Jay Adelson were gracious enough to sign my pair. Here’s what I designed:

Interview with Mizzee Customs Shoe Customizer Ryon

Interview numero dos from PaintorThread with the incredible Miz of Mizzee Customs. Great customizer, great t-shirt painter, great “artist”, period. Have you seen his Earthworm Jim customs? They are likely just as good or better than anything else you have ever done. Mizzee offers some great advice to young customizers, so check it!

1. Please give your name, age, where you are from and or grew up?

Im normally mild mannered Ryon, but when dangers afoot I thrown the cape on and become the eccentric Miz. I’m 25 sometimes depending on how old SHE is and I grew up in Philadelphia, PA; but now I rest in south (new) jersey

2. What, if any, art based education have you had?

None really, Im just happy to be here.

3. When did you start and what got you into customizing?

I first started customizing back in like winter 98-99. I would paint timberland boots since I couldn’t afford to have a real selection. I was always doing sneakers off and on but never really got into it till late 2006. Then I became Lil Wayne…

GourmetKickz: Before HeRose Custom AF1 Low

Latest from Gourmet Kickz, in Chef’s words:

The “Before He Rose” concept is a play on words. The meaning behind the title stems from the idea that before there were any icons classified as heroes, there was the son of GOD. When looking at HIS sacrifice and what HE did for the children of GOD, he is in fact the first hero on earth. The duality of the title comes into play here as J.C. in fact rose from the dead after his crucifixion. So the title stands for the statement: Before there were heroes on Earth, HE rose from the dead for us. The reference to J.C. is brought to life on these beautiful customs with the unique imagery on the fabric. As you can see a central figure is adorned by a crown of roses, and is flanked by two other damned souls. One could easily speculate that the central figure represents J.C. after his death, now wearing a crown of roses rather than thorns. The flanking souls could represent the two men that died alongside J.C. for whom HE asked forgiveness before their passing.
