This week a couple samples of a Supreme X NBA Logos Nike Air Force 1 collaboration popped up on Instagram. The first thing that came to mind for many was that of the NBA logo jackets and Unk denim jeans of the early 2000s. In fact, the multi-logo NBA jackets have been a custom-made item from Jeff Hamilton since the mid 1990s.
But of course, here at PaintOrThread my memory was centered around an all-black Air Force 1 painted with NBA logos. After a bit of searching, I was able to find photos of this pair from what seems to be about 2002-2003 for a Customs Look-Back feature. Team logo sneaker designs were definitely one of the first graphic based customizations that became popular in the early 2000s. This pair was created and posted upon NikeTalk and InStyleShoes by someone with the username “skywalker” from Customatix-Kix.com. While one logo was some nice work at this time, imagine the reactions for this pair showcasing the team, NBA, and conference logos across one pair.
Now, in 2018 Nike has an NBA contract and their friends at Supreme are taking full advantage as we can see in this sample NBA Logos Nike Air Force 1 mid here.
Well, so did Reebok at some point when they had the NBA apparel contract. Right?
