Without a certain Kanye West album cover a majority of “sneakerheads” would not have any idea of the work of contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. While that Graduation album artwork by Murakami has seen it’s rounds onto a slew of custom sneakers, this is one of the only pairs we can remember that takes on other work from Murakami.
What began as an all white Nike Air Force 1 was hand painted by NanoOks of KicksFlipped Customs. Upon the forefoot area and Swooshes a vibrant recreation of Murakami’s smiling flower motif catches your eyes. The heel and mid panel sections feature a more subdued but sharp and jagged print inspired by accent graphics seen in much of Murakami’s portfolio. A neutral black with pale yellow outlining details the heel tabs and lace panels.
