One of the current beauties of the sneakerhead world, the adidas Ultra Boost, has been flipped in another direction by JBF Customs. In a full reconstruction, the original upper was removed and rebuilt with new materials, going from adidas Primeknit and plastic cages to Missoni knit fabric and veg tanned leather. JBF chopped up a bright multi-colored Missoni pillow to make for the focal point of this pair per his customer’s request. Replacing the plastic cage are pieces of the vegetable tanned leather hand painted to still hold up their adidas roots and to match JBF’s signature ++ on the tongues. The most interesting part of these is probably the front piece of veg tan that recreates the typical Primeknit pattern on the Ultra Boost but now gives it the structure and function of a classic mudguard. Along with the back heel pieces replaced with the veg tan, the liners were also remade the same which according to JBF, “you really have to feel this stuff to fully appreciate it”. Matching leather laces complete the look inspired by Italy-based fashion house Missoni.
