Without the Fab 5 this whole sneaker obsession thing might not be as prevalent as it is now. Although the ’91-’92 freshman class of Michigan Wolverine basketball burst onto the scene with long shorts, black crew socks, and Nike ball sneaks their flare was certainly in line with that of Air Jordan. So this creation by Dank Customs combines those two pillars of not just Nike, but basketball fame.
Upon the base of an Air Jordan V retro the University of Michigan signature maize and navy blue cover nearly every part of the upper starting from a bright toe fading into the dark back two thirds. The first big signature of Wolverine pride is found on the large M logos on each heel. Next upon a close look the names and numbers of the Fab 5, Juwan Howard, Ray Jackson, Jimmy King, Jalen Rose and Chris Webber, are subtly layed out in a lighter shade of yellow on the toes. Final details of a navy liner, black Jumpman logos on the tongue, and the schools colors continued upon the iconic AJV midsoles finish off this complete transformation.
As usual this pair of custom Jordans by Dank is a 1 of 1 but you can check more of his work and comission your own via JWDanklefs.com and on Instagram: @JWDanklefs
