Thanks to Mache Customs, shoelaces were swapped out to create a pair of Zipper Adidas Ultra Boost. When it comes to sneakers, the zipper has become more fashion than true desired function. A tool that has made its way to factory released models over the years, has never truly overcome the staying power of the shoelace. Adidas already has had a Pure Boost trainer for women attempting to utilize the zipper for a better lock down fitting. But will their most popular Boost model ever get the zipper treatment? This pair could prove the zips worth.
A pair like this is perfect marketing research for adidas to see reactions to the alternate zipped concept. Removing the shoelaces, they were forgone for a set of black zippers after cutting a slit into the upper and stitching in the zippers. Going with a past trend the clear three-stripes cage was also removed. In place of the cage a simple stripe branding was painted for the true adidas look.
Would you grab a new pair of adidas Ultra Boost if they were set with zippers?
