KAWS’ 2016 BFF plush toy inspired this pair of Air Jordan I reconstructed customs. With the variety of work, there are many ways someone could take a customization based on the artwork of KAWS. Typically the bright bold multicolored works have been the subject of many sneakers. Going in a different route, Vicious Threads looked to some of the artist’s darker based pieces for a custom full of details.
Much of the base’s panels were rebuilt with a black fuzzy fur a la the BFF plush toy pictured below. Next, a quilted tongue for a look of luxury was put in place to match the fur. More obvious KAWS details were made with multiple Companion figure connected graphics like his Original Fake teeth or Nature Of Need hands as extra add-ons to the upper and tongue with Velcro backing. Final details of embroidered XX on the heels and a set of teeth on the toebox finish off a pair that covered KAWS on multiple levels.
