Whhhhhaaat!? Yes these are customs. 1 of 1s from Canadian reconstruction customizer Jack The Ripper aka j.theripper. Created for sneaker collector @shoeicidal, Jack put a new spin on a very sought after Air Jordan limited release. Shoeicidal’s favorite pair of sneakers are the Air Jordan VI Doernbecher and these are his and Jack’s take on that look. If you don’t know, the Nike Doernbecher series is a yearly limited release of sneakers designed by children of the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Often times the shoes are full of small details that are personal to that child. These follow that idea to a tee.
Outside of any of Jacks logos the graphics represent the collector’s love in his relationship to his wife and their son with nods to their wedding and the son’s birthday. Jack showed that same level of love in the attention to detail on these beginning with hand dying the suede before construction. Each logo, date and stripe was then heat stamped. All of the stitching is nearly flawless as the inspiration along including the zig zag stitching on the side panels. The sockliners feature a gold lambskin with the J.TheRipper logo laser engraved for even more detail. The gold tongue and heel tabs were custom molded courtesy of Beat2HeatRestorations to match. As for the overall project itself Jack named these as the crown jewel of his creations. Indeed one of the best reconstruction custom sneakers we’ve ever seen.
