The majority of the shoes in your gallery are white base shoes. Are white on white kicks the best to work on for the ultimate contrast of the lasered leather on white? Is there any point in lasering a colored shoe?
Exactly, the best results are white on white leather. We have done colored shoes, and other materials, such as Foamposite, patent leather, and nubuck. Again, it really depends on what the client wants.
Are there any shoes you prefer? Any materials or shoes you cannot really use? What styles are easier…what are tougher?
High tops Dunks or Air Force 1s are usually the best because there is more room to do a more elaborate design. Suede is by far the worst material to laser.
Is there any weird or funny requests you’ve gotten? Or had to turn away?
Haha, yeahhhh, there’s been some that we just shake our heads. Either the artwork is a mess, or they don’t know what a vector is. That’s not to say everyone needs to know the design lingo, but if you have a clothing company and you’re a creative, you should know what a vectorized image is.
What are all the services you offer via Absolelute.com? Do you have a specific turnaround time or does it all depend on the request?
At the moment all orders are required to be The Absolelute Experience. Which means each order gets everything Absolelute has to offer, including multiple etchings per sneakers, lasered wooden box, etc. The idea behind this is not about money, which is what I’m sure most people think, but its about giving every order 100% of what we can do. Giving each order the time they deserve, and time is money. Think of it as a Nike Bespoke, where we sit and talk about how to make the experience everything they want it to be. Turn around time is about a month for new orders.
Looking at your new logo, it is a vast improvement. What else might be in the pipeline that you are able to share any hints of?
Thank you very much, the new logo is a reflection of our ideology of design and execution. Down the road there are some exciting things we can’t really talk about, but all I can say is we are finally getting the exposure and attention we’ve been waiting for for a looooong time.
Where can everyone find your work or get in contact for custom lasering?
