Oregon Ducks sneakers get a whole new spin thanks to DeJesus Custom Footwear. If you’re unaware, the history between Nike and the University of Oregon athletics go hand in hand. The two founders of Nike Inc., Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman were a runner and running coach at the U of O. Fast forward to modern times decades later and Oregon is THE signature school for Nike. With that connection between school and athletic company comes special makeup sneakers called player exclusives. So, many a green and yellow Oregon branded kicks have surfaced as exclusive and retail releases over the past 10 years. Mix in the further success of the Air Jordan line and you have Oregon Air Jordans. Exclusives from the past year to excite sneakerheads were colorways by famed Nike footwear designer Tinker Hatfield using his Air Jordan XIV model. But DeJesus Customs brought the Oregon Duck concept further than we’ve come across.
The crew at DeJesus found a perfect use for the shape of the AJ 14 retros. This customization was started off with nothing other than a base of green throughout 3/4ths of the pair. Next, the concept of a duck was executed to a tee with the toes painted orange and given nostrils to mimic the look of a duck’s bill. Genius. Extra details of wing outlines, some pattern overlay, and Donald Duck Oregon logos on the heels tie the look all together.
