Not much separates sneakers from the crowd more than a 1 of 1 custom design. Some customizers rely on small runs of multiple pairs usually lacking intricate detail while others make it their bread and butter to bring the detail in something only one person could have. Finally we’ve made the effort to share some of the involute of work from United Kingdom based sneaker customizer Benji Blunt in this adidas Superstar 80s titled Dragons.
What started out as an all white adidas Superstar now features a mostly blue colorway starting with a secret formula used to print a faux snakeskin pattern on navy that actually reflects light if seen moving in person. Based on the customers Chinese heritage they chose a dragon which was hand painted black for a glowing look with two shades of blue outlines. Next custom tongues were remade in gray nubuck featuring logos of the customers children. Lastly the stripes and back panels feature a speckle cement pattern with hints of glow in the dark power to compliment the tongues. The entire project was for a friend Benji actually bought the base shoe from 2 years prior. You can check the entire story of how the project happened and why a pair of customs is now the most prized pair in an entire collection here at: EatMoreShoes.com.
