2015 is going to be the year of the Superstar for adidas as the athletic company celebrates the 45th anniversary of the shoes’ initial release. 2014 saw a few special releases of another adidas classic the Stan Smith. In this piece by GroundBreaker Customs the two adidas originals sneakers are fused together to create the pair titled SmithStar.
Away went the majority of the Superstar’s upper leaving just the heel tab, soles, and recognizable shell toes. In place of the Superstar upper, the stylings of the Stan Smith were reconstructed out of black patent leather complete with contrast stitching, white backing behind the stripe perforations, green eyelets to match the custom painted tongue tags and heel tabs. Last additions of black laces and a cowskin liner complete the hybrid style reconstruction.
