In 2012 sneaker customizers cemented the Lebron 9 as the sneaker atop the base shoe throne. The latest of the greatest is this Nike Lebron 9 low “Watch the Throne” by El Cappy Customs. This is a mirrored colorway custom inspired by the Lebron 9 introduced last year to celebrate Jay Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne album tour.
An all black upper is the first change by El Cappy. Next was the painted addition of gold to the Swoosh, eyelet wings, heel and tongue logos, and midsole speckle. The biggest challenge of this pair was recreating the Givenchy style print escalated into fame last year among mens fashion by Jay and Ye. El Cappy took no shortcut mimicking the detailed colorful print on both the sockliner and laces as the original pair, heck one could argue this pair even looks a bit nicer since it is more vibrant. Lastly the gold piece seen on the original pairs laces and made by jeweler Gabriel Urist and inscribed with WTT was also recreated by El Cappy to complete the Watch The Throne look. I imagine these would get the people going if auctioned on eBay. But they’ll probably stay even rarer than the original pairs.
No word if El Cappy is selling or remaking this pair but contact him via his website: ElCap1of1.com and Follow him on Twitter: @EricMafuknLowry to find out.
