This KAWS Dissected Air Jordan IV custom breathes colorful life into one of the most sought after releases of 2017. For a limited release this year Jordan Brand looked to the services of artist KAWS to bridge his artwork with a classic Air Jordan model. The two identities realized an AJ IV retro in an all suede makeup featuring embroidered graphics of KAWS’ Companion hands. Instant sellouts. Desired by more than the production numbers allowed for. Yet many fans of KAWS may have preferred something more on the colorful side of his portfolio of artwork. Kenneth Cole Customs brought that colorful look to reality inspired by a Photoshopped mock up by @kickstagram.
Splitting the all gray Air Jordan down the middle, the pair now sets as a contrasting kick in more ways than one. The lateral sides of both shoes were dyed to from gray to black. Upon the medial panels, further inspiration was taken from many of KAWS’ Dissected Companion figure pieces with exposed brightly colored inner organs. Of the 10 panels altered, each shoe has the colors differently placed. It is hard to imagine more hype upon this sneaker but it’s cool to see an alternate version that could have been equally desired in the sneakerhead market.
