Boston Strong Air Jordan 1 Customs by Sab One

One year later the many accounts of what happened in downtown Boston during the 117th Boston Marathon still evoke the strongest of all human emotions. Time will likely never change that. Out of the senseless acts that took four lives and altered thousands of others who survived has risen an endless amount of compassion for those suffering. As a native of Boston, customizer Sab One used his skills to help with this pair of customized Air Jordan 1s.

Two stories that many have become familiar with are that of the Norden brothers JP and Paul of Stoneham, Massachusetts. They like many, were in attendance along the finish line with a group of friends watching the race and cheering on a friend who was running. The second explosion took place right where they were standing. Along with their friend Marc Fucarile they each suffered numerous injuries that ultimately required each of them to have their right legs amputated.

365 days later they aren’t letting their injuries stop them from doing amazing things. For starters they are walking. Walking with friends and family in a 26 mile relay helping to raise money for their medical bills and future prosthetic limbs. The walk took place today as the 1st annual Legs for Life Relay that started in Hopkinton, MA home of the marathon’s starting line. By 6pm the brothers, family and friends all crossed the finish line.

What began as a navy and yellow Air Jordan 1 retro was given a look of the Boston Marathon by Sab One with the addition of royal blue along the toe and lace panels and a set of insoles with the marathon logo. A bit of black, metal eyelets, and a set of metallic silver Swooshes accent the back heel panels that have been painted with the red, white, and blue of the United States with a superimposed BOSTON STRONG in black over the stripes.

This 1 of 1 design was worn today by JP Norden on his triumphant walk. They will soon be available for auction on eBay.
