If you are a regular reader of PaintOrThread(THANK YOU) you are well aware of the color swapping phenomenon that seems to have been taking place lately. Reality is the color swap sneaker customization has been around since the beginning. To understand a bit more of where it stands in today’s scene check last weeks first installment of Color Swap Saturday.
All the bad talking on the lack of creativity and how we want to see nothing Nike has already released aside, it still takes some skills and a creative eye to pull off a colorswap well. Below is what came across our screens the last week:
Nike Dunk low 112 by Dank Customs: Jake of Dank Customs created a commissioned piece for ProcessHSK with NikeID as his resource. The elephant print panels were selected using the NikeID program and then Jake went to town starting with painting the Swooshes neon yellow. Next the 112 theme’s reflective characteristics were recreated on the toe panels and heel tabs. Lately a couple of stuffed tongues, tongue tags and custom insoles finish them off. Air Jordan low Concord and Space Jam by 2Nice: Featured last week for the Columbia XI pictured as well, Tommy of 2Nice Customs whipped up three of the fantastic 5 XI colorways into low top form. How long until we see the XI as a near regular release 3, 4, 5 times a year? Check more from 2Nice on Instagram: @2NiceCustoms
UNDFTD Nike Air Force 1 low by Sab One: Now if you know nothing about this shoe’s influencer….just realize even for how simple they are they’d likely sell out instantly. Originally an unreleased sample that surfaced in 2002 in this all white with gum sole was the Nike Dunk by Undefeated. But Nike and Undefeated killed the mystique of that by releasing them in lesser quality this year. Sab recreated the look on the AF1 low. Simple. Check more from Sab on Instagram: @SAB_ONE
Air Jordan V “Stealth” by Ecentrik Artistry: Modeled after a retro Air Jordan III from a 2011 release. Elom of Ecentrik Artistry gives the Air Jordan V white/fire red some simple gray and black additions for a pretty clean design. Follow Ecentrik on Instagram: @EcentrikArtistry
