The concept of sneakers influenced by aircraft design is nothing new, just look into the history of different Air Jordans. As well Nike and shoe customizers have looked to war time aircraft for their unique graphics. Without stopping short of any details Roberto of SmoothTip Customs has recreated the look of the differnt Curtiss P-40 Warhawk stylings on the Nike Lebron 9. What started out as the cool gray colorway is now covered in a handful of military graphics starting with a base coat of pearl metallic Army green followed by a ghost camouflage on the front panels. Next Army camo is seen on the outside Nike Swooshes with the US military’s 2 color stars in blue and white. The most signature look is the hand painted “shark mouth” logo on the toes a la the Warhawk’s nose. Last details include red accents on the tongue and heels along with airbrushed graphics created to mimic the metal bolts that helped keep the planes metal panels together.
