Every shoe customizer that puts out work regularly probably has a un-finished custom or two, or three(maybe 11 pairs its alright try to use this as motivation to knock one out this week if that is you.) The motivation HUSH Fabrications used was from the skateboarding video that he as been watching lately: Greatest Misses 1994 – 1997 San Francisco. He felt this pair of Nike Dunks were one of his greatest misses so he aptly named them “HF10-002: Greatest Misses”. They were a decon-recon project HUSH started last summer in 2009 to show how a mix of different textures can come together on a shoe. 6 different materials were used when HUSH rebuilt this Nike Dunk from the sole up: black carbon fiber textured vinyl along the toe box and eyelets, gray cowskin suede on the back heel, red pigskin suede on the midpanel and toebox, red full grain leather Swooshes, reflective 3m Scotchlite on the the upper heel, and denim on the tongue and heel tabs. Considering how long it took HUSH to get to knocking these out, for the time being he still considers customizing sneakers to be a hobby amongst his other hobbies, such as working on his car. Its plain to see valuable and enjoyed time was spent on this flawless reconstruction.
This pair is likely one HUSH will not be reproducing but check out his blog for some great inspiration if you are wanting to create your own decon-recon custom sneaker here: HushFabrications.blogspot.com
