After already conquering themes of modern video game systems, FreakerSneaks takes it back on this custom mash-up of two classics, Super Nintendo and Air Jordan. To most 80’s babies that grew up in the United States, the details of this customization might be a bit unfamiliar. Jonny Barry of FreakerSneaks, based in Greece, used the look of the European version (along with Australia, or the Super Famicom for Japan) of the SNES. US kids will remember the SNES with shades of purple, while the rest of the world saw these red, blue, green and yellow.
Taking the broader look of the Super Nintendo system’s gray palette this AJ IV was painted the various shades across the shoes upper, midsole and plastic pieces. The standout details start with stitched on four color Super Famicom logo tongue tags. Next, a look at the back shows the Jumpman or Nike Air logos replaced with the SNES controller’s ABXY buttons on the right shoe and the D-pad on the left shoe. But guess what? The buttons can all be pressed to mimic the feeling of a real controller.
